About Dr. Brown
Steven Brown, MD, FACS, FASCRS contributes his advanced skills to the only colon and rectal surgery groups in New England at the Colon and Rectal Surgeons of Greater Hartford, which has locations in Bloomfield, South Windsor, and Plainville, Connecticut. There, Dr. Brown performs diagnostic procedures and cutting-edge surgery to improve the lives of the men and women who turn to him for care.
Dr. Brown’s journey to becoming a surgeon began with an undergraduate degree in biology from Union College in Schenectady, New York, and a master’s degree in applied human physiology from Georgetown University, in Washington, DC. He earned his medical degree in 1992 from Sidney Kimmel Medical College of Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He completed his General Surgery residency at The University of Connecticut Integrated Residency program based in Farmington Connecticut. Fellowship training in Colon and Rectal Surgery was completed at the Orlando Regional Medical Center.
Today, Dr. Brown is a highly recognized surgeon and teacher in his field. He earned a fellowship designation from the American College of Surgeons and the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons. That means all of his training, surgical capabilities, and ethical conduct continue to meet the highest standards of these organizations.
Board-certified in general surgery and colon and rectal surgery, Dr. Brown also shares his vast accumulated knowledge with other doctors-in-training through the practice’s residency program. He served as program director for the residency program at St. Francis Hospital and Medical Center in Hartford, Connecticut, and as an assistant clinical professor for the University of Connecticut School of Medicine in Farmington, Connecticut.
Dr. Brown’s proficient clinical skills make up only a portion of his assets. He really takes the time to lean in and hear his patients so he can help them achieve their highest degree of health.
