About Dr. Scott

Rachel B. Scott, DO, is a partner at the Colon and Rectal Surgeons of Greater Hartford, the largest dedicated colon and rectal surgery group in New England, with offices in Bloomfield and South Windsor, Connecticut. Dr. Scott is board certified in both general surgery and colon and rectal surgery.  Dr. Scott is proud to help patients find solutions for their health concerns and enjoy a more active lifestyle. 

Dr. Scott completed her bachelor's degree at the University of Connecticut. Following graduation she joined Miles for Miracles and completed the Boston Marathon while raising money for this wonderful organization.  Later, she enrolled at the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine in Biddeford, Maine, graduating as a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine. 

Dr. Scott completed her general surgery training at Danbury Hospital in Danbury, Connecticut. During her residency she spent one year at the University of Vermont Medical Center in Burlington, VT researching possible treatments for inflammatory bowel disease.  To further her expertise, she enrolled in a colon and rectal surgery fellowship at St. Francis Hospital and Medical Center in Hartford, Connecticut. 

A dedicated researcher, Dr. Scott has co-authored several papers published in prestigious medical journals. She is a frequent lecturer and presenter at academic and medical conferences. Dr. Scott is also a member of the New England Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons, the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons, and the American College of Surgeons.  Dr. Scott is a clinical professor at the Frank Netter School of Medicine at Quinnipiac University.  

As a physician, Dr. Scott takes pride in offering her patients state-of-the-art treatments and techniques.  She continually strives to stay abreast of developments in colorectal surgical techniques including robotic surgery and transanal minimally invasive surgery.  

As a physician she feels that delivering the highest quality of care for her patients in a comfortable environment is of utmost importance. She sees and treats a wide range of surgical problems including hemorrhoids, anal fissures, rectal bleeding, diverticulitis, accidental leakage, colon and rectal cancer as well as routine colon cancer screening.
